Vacuum Equipment - Telemark Cryotrap- Water Vapor Cryopump

Water Vapor Pump or Cryotrap
TVP Series Cryotrap- Water Vapor Cryopump

Telemark TVP Series Cryotrap is a specialized cryogenic vacuum pump specifically for pumping water vapor. In vacuum systems, at high vacuum, 90% of the gases needing pumping is water vapor. Water vapor is also the hardest gas to pump as water vapor hangs on to surfaces only to be released at levels of high vacuum. Having a water vapor pump is important for these reasons:

Decreases the pump down times from 25% to 90%

Allows a system to attain a deeper vacuum level

Improves vacuum deposition in vacuum coating systems

Features of the Telemark Cryotrap

  • Digital Control System with RS 232 and RS 485 connectivity for data logging
  • 37 pin remote connector for analog control capability
  • Single and Dual Circuit units available
  • CE Marked units available
  • Green refrigerant gas units available
  • On-Site Installation assistance and On-Site Service available

Selection of the Proper Sized Cryotrap

Selecting the proper sized cryotrap and cryocoil depends on the amount of water vapor to be trapped and the total head load of the system. The total heat load capacity of the Telemark by model is denoted by the model number. For example the TVP 1000 can handle 1000 watts of heat load.

We recommend that the water trapping capacity be equal to at least 4 times the pumping speed of the high vacuum pump on the system. The maximum water vapor pumping speed for each model is shown in the specifications table below.

In determining the heat load of the system, there are 4 factors that can affect the heat load on the cryotrap.

1) Heat load of the cryocoil surface area  at 35 watts/sq.ft

2) Length of the refrigerant line. Standard line provides 8 watts/ft of heat load.

3)Latent Heat Loads which can be ignored at vacuum pressures below 10-04 torr.

4) Any in-chamber heating

To get the total heat load, add 1-4 for your system.
